Math Programs at The Village Lower School

While some children have an incredible aptitude for math, the concepts and applications don’t come as naturally for other students who are equally bright, but don’t make the connections quite as quickly. The Village Lower School’s hands-on math program keeps the subject stimulating for those gifted with numbers and promotes confidence and better understanding in those who sometimes struggle.

Through classroom activities and projects, children discover the role that math and problem-solving plays in our everyday lives. This recognition of real-world relationships inspires students to seek out the real meaning of numbers. Mathematical concepts that are taught and explored in accordance with Rhode Island Content Standards, include patterning, relations, estimation, measurement, geometry and number sense.
